Sharp's goal was to have all identified
critical systems Year 2000 Functional so as to minimize any significant
problems for itself and its customers and to be prepared to address
unforeseen issues, if any, as they arise. We define our goal for the
internal systems as being "Year 2000 Functional", or Y2F. Y2F in this
context means that the system will be capable of correctly processing and/or
receiving date data from now until at least 2035 provided that all inputs
exchanged with the relevant system contain accurate date data themselves and
that all software, firmware and hardware used in the relevant system are
functioning correctly, are being used in accordance with their
documentation, and are providing accurate date data output or are accepting
inputs of accurate data from other systems.
